Has she gone too far? Taylor Momsen flashes her chest at crowd as she performs in New York

She's fast earning a reputation as a bad girl at the age of just 17 - and Taylor Momsen  seemed determined to court even more controversy by baring her naked breasts  during a gig. 

Singing with her band The Pretty Reckless, the Gossip Girl star deliberately pulled down her ripped top to reveal her bra-less assets with strips of black gaffer tape covering her nipples.

With a knowing look, she carried on singing and only pulled her top back up after a few seconds having made sure her stunt had been noticed at Thursday night's gig.

The star also shocked onlookers with her ultra skinny appearance.

Wearing a deliberately trashy looking outfit of a ripped black top, fishnet stocking, tiny black skirt, platform 'hooker' heels and a necklace which read 'Slave', showed off skinny arms and extremely thin legs.

Day job: Taylor on the set of Gossip Girl in Manhattan earlier this week

Perhaps the rigours of playing gigs with her band and returning to her role of Jenny Humphrey on  Gossip Girl are taking their physical and perhaps mental toll on the star. 

However, she's said of her onstage antics that it's just another 'role'.

She told Bullit magazine:'On stage I'm performing. It's another extension of myself. I mean, I don't walk out of my bedroom in the morning with stripper heels on.'

Taylor and her band, The Pretty Reckless, have just released the music video for their single 'Make Me Wanna Die,' and she strips down to her underwear and signature thigh-high stockings in that too.

Taylor removes her clothes as she walks down the street and catches fire.

The track, which also features on the soundtrack of movie Kick-Ass, came out earlier this year and hit Number 16 in the charts.

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn, who filmed a guest spot on Gossip Girl last month, labelled Momsen as 'pathetic' and a 'brat' on set.

He told E! News: 'She was pathetic, she couldn't remember her lines, and she didn't even have that many. I thought to myself "why are we all being held hostage by this brat?"'

Gunn blamed it on her constant BlackBerry use. He said: 'I'd say, "You know young lady, there are hundreds of thousands of girls who are just as attractive and even smarter than you. Why are you acting like this show is a huge burden on you?" She was on her phone during every break, I wanted to tell her, "If you weren't on your BlackBerry, you can retain this stuff."'

Earlier this month, the star controversially posed holding a hand gun in revealing underwear on the cover of Revolver magazine

She also gave a typically forthright interview where she admitted watching pornography, owning a vibrator and carrying a knife.

'If it’s a good sex tape, I’ll watch it… I like some adult stars,' she told the magazine.

The wannabe bad girl has also feuded with Miley Cyrus and criticised Rihanna dress sense.

Also, more disturbingly, she recently set the removed testicles of her neutered dog on fire.

Pretty Reckless guitarist Ben Phillips revealed: 'Taylor loves setting things on fire... she thinks we're some rock 'n' roll badasses. One morning, Taylor got into the studio really early - she'd just had her dog neutered and brought in the bits. Which she then burned. We were grossed out.'
