According to SportsBible, Neves could not witness the birth of his third child due to the coronavirus pandemic and its clear restrictions, so he watched the touching event on his phone instead.

The couple had decided that the baby would be born in their home country, Portugal, during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ruben Neves’s wife, Debora, had already returned to Portugal when travel was permitted.

However, Neves knew he would not be by his wife’s side during labor when Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced that all flights to and from the UK would be banned beginning on January 23.

Even if he had been allowed to travel, quarantine laws would have prevented the player from playing for the Wolves when they were dealing with injuries and struggling with their form.
