He’s scored roles in many major upcoming Hollywood blockbusters based on some of the world's most famous comic books.
But Callan Mulvey has the resilience of a real-life superhero, telling Kyle and Jackie O on Tuesday morning of his return to form after a horrific car crash over a decade ago.
‘I thought it was curtains for me at the time’, the 39-year-old said, ‘and it was a really long recovery to get back on the horse.

In 2014 Mulvey will be featured in 300: Rise Of An Empire and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Variety has also reported that he’s in talks to star in 2015’s Batman vs. Superman. But in 2004 none of this was on the cards.

‘A whole midsection of my face collapsed, I got cut ear to ear over the top of my head, my scalp got pulled down, and they rebuilt my face.’

But as terrifying as that sounds, he explained that it could have been much, much worse.
‘It’s incredible what they did considering the first call my parents got was 'it’s bad and we don’t know if he’s gonna make it and if he does he’ll have pretty severe brain damage.'

Mulvey was born in New Zealand but moved to Sydney at the age of eight after landing a role in the television series Heartbreak High when he was in his early twenties.
Since then he's acted in shows such as Underbelly, Home And Away and Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms.
He made his Hollywood debut in 2012's Zero Dark Thirty, and will next hit the silver screen as Scyllias in the soon-to-be released 300: Rise Of An Empire.
