When it comes to finding the perfect jacket for winter, my requirements come down to two things: style and comfortability. When the temperatures drop, I need a design that will keep me nice and toasty all season long. While I’m a bit on the short side with a curvy figure, browsing the racks for a chic find can be a challenge. Most toppers fit my physique with a super snug or relaxed fit (in other words, not flattering). Needless to say, coat shopping is one of my least favorite pastimes.

However, when I was introduced to Frank And Oak, I finally had a glimmer of hope. The Canadian brand creates styles for both men and women crafted from the best premium and sustainable materials. With a variety of minimal styles up for grabs, including the Explorer Winter Puffer, the Hygge Oversized Cocoon Coat, the Alpine Parka and the Capital Waterproof Hooded Parka, I was excited to give these toppers a try. Designed with the brand’s signature Recycled 3M Thinsulate, each style offers insulation, a water-repellent construction and wind-resistant detailing to easily tackle the elements.

While I like to show off my figure, winter calls for covering up, so the Hygge Oversized Cocoon Coat immediately caught my eye. This style features a mid-length cut and has a super soft hood, plus it comes in black and a chic coffee liqueur hue. Most coats fit me true to size, so I ordered a medium, and when it arrived it was a great fit.

Of course, I decided to give the outerwear a test run outside of the office and on the chilly streets of New York City. No surprise, the coat kept me nice and warm despite the windy weather. I love how this piece provided an oversized fit with a subtle snug cut. Even better, the hood stayed on my head, so I didn’t have to expose my hands to the cold weather holding it down. Basically, this coat is a winner!

Skeptical? I asked my fellow co-worker to test out the Frank And Oak offerings and she was equally impressed.

Commerce writer Marquaysa Battle tried on the Explorer Winter Puffer Jacket and she couldn’t get enough of its comfy feel.

“Super comfortable outerwear piece,” she said. “I loved the color. It felt very warm and cozy.”

After wearing the Hygge Oversized Cocoon Coat for a few hours, I loved how I was able to stay warm without feeling overheated. There’s no denying that this number is going to become my go-to come the first snowfall!
