Is She Hinting That He Banged Lady Gaga?!
If you watched the 2019 Academy Awards, you probably found yourself enduring a roller coaster of emotions.
Okay, so it was mostly just three hours of boredom capped off by a moment of mild shock when Green Book won Best Picture.
But there was one segment that may have caused you to sit up and briefly pay attention — if only to wonder if you’d rolled over on the remote and accidentally wound up watching a softcore Skinamax porn.
We’re talking, of course, about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s duet of "Shallows," their signature song from A Star Is Born that went on win an Oscar later in the evening.
Somewhat disappointingly, Copper didn’t pee his pants on stage, but other than that, he was very much in character as Jackson Maine.
Basically, he and Gaga both morphed into heart-eye emojis as they crooned the ballad in such an intimate fashion that we felt compelled to hop an Uber to the Dolby Theater and offer them a wad of tissues.
Much has been made of the fact that Cooper’s longtime girlfriend, Irina Shayk, was seated in the front row observing the horny spectacle.
In fact, Shayk was seated between the co-stars, and they reached over her to clasp hands before taking the stage together!
Tellingly, Shayk also turned her back on Gaga and did not congratulate her after the performance.
So it’s not hard to see why the rumor that Irina is no great fan of the Mother Monster easily gained traction on social media.
And now it’s being helped along by what many are interpreting as major shade coming from Cooper’s ex-wife.
Yes, Bradley Cooper was married before.
In fact, he was hitched to actress Jennifer Eposito.
Esposito may not be a household name, but she’s one of those actors who you’re definitely familiar with if you consume a normal amount of television.
Anyway, Esposito was married to Cooper for less than a year in 2006, but her thoughts on Cooper’s love life still carry a lot of weight, which is why the internet lost its collective mind in response to her two-letter reaction to the performance.
When comic David Spade posted a pic of Cooper and Gaga and wrote, "Is there any chance these two aren’t f–king?" Esposito replied in the comments with a simple, "Ha."
Yes, that’s all it took.
The internet ran with Esposito’s monosyllabic commentary to the point that she was forced to issue a clarification.
"I literally laughed at [Spade] because he was so bold in what he was saying and I thought it was funny," an incensed Esposito explained.
"I’m allowed to think something is funny."
She added:
"We have so many things in our country and in our world that need attention, and I wish that you’d spend even a minute of this insanity of nonsense on things that are really important."
Esposito went on to say that she didn’t even watch the Oscars and has no interest in who her ex is … dueting with.
"I didn’t watch the Oscars, I don’t know what went on, I don’t care what went on," she said.
"I just commented on something that I thought was funny."
So perhaps Jen really didn’t intend to throw any shade.
And if she were the only one dropping hints on social media, perhaps Gaga-gate would be a thing of the past.
But as it happens, Irina Shayk unfollowed Gaga on Twitter and Instagram just days before the Oscars. Just sayin’.
